Lansdowne recovered from an indifferent opening 30 minutes to register an impressive victory over Union this past weekend at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.

The slow start resulted in the concession of 8 points: a penalty and a try, before Lansdowne started to play some coherent rugby. A Brian Fingleton try, scored from close range,  following some good work by Anthony Priest, Owen Myers, and Manus O'Sullivan closed the gap to 8-5 at the half time break. Lansdowne continued to escalate the intensity in the second half; however, they were initially unable to break the Union defense down in a series of tap penalties close to the line.

The first score of the second half came following a kick and chase and a bungled effort on the part of the Union defense to clear the ball. This allowed, out-half, Jonny Coughlan to touch down under the posts for a converted try. Lansdowne continued to employ an effective kicking game which was augmented by good line-out play and some strong running by Jason Kelly and Blake Mannion in the centers. The second Lansdowne try of the half came via Jonny Coughlan following a blocked kick on his opposite number. The conversion brought the score to 17-8 in favor of Lansdowne. Union were able to pull a penalty back late in the game to narrow Lansdowne's margin of victory to 17-11.

In the second game, the Lansdowne B team struggled to compete with a Union team composed primarily of  A team players. However, the play of the day was an unexpectedly long distance try from prop Tom Knudsen who, in the process, employed a dummy pass that a backline player would be proud of.
